How to Double Cleanse: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Double Cleansing - 2024

Over the years, cleansing trends have emerged. Those of us of a certain age will remember using only cheap soap and a rough washcloth to wash off our makeup. As far as skin care goes, these were definitely not the good old days.
Of course, there's the tried and tested cleansing, toning and moisturising routine - gold stars to you, dear friend, if you achieved this holy grail of skincare routine as a teenager or twenty-something!
Scientific advances in skin care during the 1990s brought improved anti-aging and acne products, and organic skincare and cruelty-free alternatives became more and more popular. Bath time suddenly became a delightful, colorful treat thanks to a small mail-order company called Lush, which sold a small range of natural shampoo bars and organic cleansers.
Despite previous improvements and technologically advanced devices such as the cleansing brush, stressed-out consumers have been using simple wipes in recent years, unaware of the disastrous consequences that their cleansing convenience has on both the planet and their own skin.
Now that we've entered 2020 and are fully committed to self-care routines and making a conscious effort to live a more environmentally friendly life, embrace the latest skincare trend that's sure to stay: the double cleanse.
Double cleansing is a multi-care regimen that originates from the extremely popular K-Cosmetics skincare routine , which dates back to the 14th century in Asia. Korean cosmetics place a lot of emphasis on pampering and nurturing. This is definitely a trend we can support, and there are also some significant benefits for your skin.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Typically, a cleansing oil, cream or micellar water is applied to the dry face to dissolve and remove the day's makeup, sweat and pollutants. The next step is to massage a foaming cleanser onto the face, which allows for a more thorough cleansing. Dead skin cells and pollution are removed and the skin is perfectly prepared for daily skin care.

CLEANING 1
- Many double cleanse followers start by using a separate oil-based cleanser or micellar water on the eye area to dissolve eye makeup. We recommend using a reusable cotton pad for this. If you are not using waterproof makeup or do not need it, skip to the next step.
- Apply a few pumps of the enzyme cleanser to your cotton pad and place it on the eye for a few seconds to allow the cleanser to dissolve your makeup. Then wipe the pad away to the side. Turn the pad over, wipe off any excess cleanser and repeat as needed.
- Gently massage a generous amount of the Rose and Cupuaçu Enzyme Cleansing Milk onto the dry face and neck, up over the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead. Add a little water and continue massaging. The pomegranate enzymes will act as a natural exfoliator at this stage. Leave the cleanser on the skin for a minute to allow the enzymes to do their work.
Rinse thoroughly or wipe with a warm, damp cloth.
CLEANING 2
- Apply our Regenerating Facial Cleanser to wet hands and massage deeply into face and neck using circular motions, paying particular attention to nose, chin area and hairline. Use the soft side of your double-sided washcloth to thoroughly remove the cleanser.
- Once you've completely rinsed your skin of product, rinse your washcloth under warm water (make sure it's not too hot!) and lay it flat on your face for 5-10 seconds for a mini facial. This stimulates circulation and the lymphatic system and feels super good. Repeat as many times as you feel necessary - we could do this all day.
