KLARNA INSTALLMENT PURCHASE - Pay conveniently in installments

When will I receive my monthly invoice for installment purchases?

We always send your monthly invoice around the 15th of the month. If you have made a purchase on installments in the current month, we will add the corresponding amount to the next monthly invoice. For example, if you order at the beginning of August, the amount will appear on the monthly invoice that we send you in mid-September. You can decide how you would like to receive your monthly invoice. If you log in here , you can choose between having it sent by post or by email.

Why did I receive a notice/contract for an installment purchase?

A notification or contract for a flexible installment purchase with Klarna will be sent if the flexible installment purchase was selected when purchasing online. If you would like to pay amounts of €200 or more by installment purchase, we will send you an installment purchase contract by post. Please sign it and send it back to us so that we can offer you the installment purchase.

Can I pay the outstanding installment purchase amount in full?

Yes, you can pay back the outstanding amount in full at any time. Once the payment has been received in full, no further interest will be charged. There will no longer be a monthly installment purchase fee. If you would like to buy on installments again in the future, we will simply activate your existing installment purchase agreement.

How much is my monthly installment payment?

You always pay as much as you want, but at least the minimum amount due shown on your monthly bill.
In the "Total outstanding amount" line on your current monthly invoice, you can see how much is left to pay off your installment purchase in full. Your monthly invoices are available to you at any time in the Klarna app or here .

The total amount on my monthly bill is higher than expected. Why is that?

There can be various reasons for this:

  • You have recently made new purchases for which you selected installment payment as the payment method. These have then been added to your existing installment payment.
  • You have made purchases with the payment method "Pay in month X" that are due next month. The invoice amount of these purchases will be added to the outstanding total of your other installment purchase purchases. Of course, no interest will be charged on the purchases with "Pay in month X". If you want to add these purchases to your flexible installment purchase, you can simply pay the lower minimum amount that is shown on the right-hand side of your monthly invoice.

Why was I charged late fees?

Late payment fees apply if we have not received your payment by the due date. This is stated on the monthly invoice. Late payment fees also apply if you have paid less than the stated minimum amount or if your transfer could not be allocated. When making the transfer, please only state the intended purpose stated on the monthly invoice.

How does flexible installment purchasing work with Klarna?

If you have chosen the flexible installment plan with Klarna, you can pay your bill at your own pace. All orders for which you choose the flexible installment plan are collected on a clear monthly invoice. This is always sent in the middle of the month. If you use the installment plan payment method for the first time, we will send you the first monthly invoice in the following month. In most cases, it is possible to pay your invoice in installments, provided that the retailer you ordered from offers the flexible installment plan with Klarna. It's that easy to start an installment plan: Log in to our app or here and select the desired installment plan as a payment option for the order you want to pay in installments. From then on, you will receive your monthly invoice regularly and decide for yourself how much you want to pay (but at least the amount stated as the minimum amount on your monthly invoice). Can I also receive my monthly invoice by email?

Of course, we can send you the monthly invoice for the installment purchase by email instead of by post. To do so, log in here and confirm this choice - also for the sake of the environment.

What happens if I don't pay my installments on time?

If we do not receive your payment or only receive part of it by the payment deadline stated on the monthly invoice, we will be in default. This will incur costs for us, which you will have to pay. If we do not receive any payments or receive too little payment for several months, your installment plan can be canceled and the claim can be handed over to a debt collection agency.

What happens if I pay the minimum amount due?

If you pay the minimum amount due on your monthly bill, the bills included in it that you have agreed to pay at fixed rates will automatically be converted into a flexible installment plan.

How does installment purchase with fixed terms work?

If you complete an installment purchase over a fixed term (3, 6 or 12 months), the total amount of your bill will be distributed evenly over this term. The bill will be added to your flexible installment purchase and you will only receive one monthly bill for all completed installment purchases. Can I convert my invoice into an installment plan?

For some invoices it is possible to convert the invoice into an installment purchase in the Klarna app or on klarna.de. Follow these four simple steps:

  1. Log in here or in our app.
  2. Select which invoice you want to convert.
  3. Click on “Payment Options” and then on “Partial Payment”.
  4. Choose the number of months you want to pay.
